St Patrick's Festivities - disruptions to services in the Southern Region

We wish to advise customers of disruptions to services in the Southern Region due to St Patrick's Day festivities.

Cork City Services

All Cork City Services will operate with diversions between 11am and 6pm. Diversions are as follows:

Route 202:

Southbound: Will operate via Cathedral Rd, Gerald Griffin St,O Connell St , Watercourse Road, Cathedral Walk , Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru and Clontarf Streets/Bridges, then normal
North bound: operate via Eglinton Street, Albert Quay, De Valera and Collins Bridges, Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, Camden Quay then normal

Route 202A

Southbound: Will operate vis Sun Valley Drive (Temp Stops Grotto + North Mon), Watercourse Road, Carroll's Quay , Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru and Clontarf Streets/Bridges, then normal
North bound: operate via Eglinton Street, Albert Quay, De Valera and Collins Bridges, Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, Camden Quay then normal

Route 203

Southbound: turn left from N20 and operate via Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru and Clontarf Bridges/Streets, Albert Quay N27 to Old Station Road and left onto Angleslea Street, stopping opp Crawford Bar
Northbound: operate via Cotter Street, Copley Street, Old Station Road, straight on to N27 (passing Aldi) , continue stright on to De Valera and Collins Bridges, left to Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, right onto Bridge St. and then normal.

Route 205

Eastbound: operate via Grenville Place, Kyrles Quay, Lavitts Quay, Christy Ring Bridge, Carrols Quay, Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, then normal
Westbound: operate via Horgans Quay. Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, Camden Quay, Christy Ring, Lavitts Quay, Kyrles Quay . Gratton Street, then normal

Route 206

Northbound - Nomal route to South Terrace, then right to Cotter Street, right to Copley Street, right to Anglesea Street, Set down Opp Crawford Bar (between Breast Check and Old Station Road Jctn)
Southbound - Depart Opp Crawford Bar (between Breast Check and Old Station Road Jctn) , then normal route thereafter

Route 207

Northbound - Normal route to South Terrace, then right to Cotter Street, right to Copley Street,Old Station Road, straight on to N27 (passing Aldi) , continue stright on to De Valera and Collins Bridges, left to Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, right to Bridge Street, MacCurtain and Summerhill North then as normal
Southbound - Continue straight at Brian Boru Bridge, via Clontarf Street & Bridge, left onto Albert Quay then right onto N27 then straight to Old Station Road and left onto Anglelea Street, stopping opp Crawford Bar , then normal route thereafter

Route 207a

Toward City Turn right from Brian Boru Street on to St Patricks Quay
Toward Glenthorn turn right on to Bridge Street and normal route thereafter

Route 208

Route 214

Eastbound: From Sherman Crawford Street, turn left on Wandesford Quay, left to Lancaster Quay, right to Mardyke Street, right on to Mardyke, left to Grenville Place, Kyrles Quay, Lavitts Quay, Christy Ring Bridge, Carrols Quay, Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, then normal

Route 215

Route 216

Westbound: Via South Terrace, Georges Quay, Sullivans Quay, Probys Quay,Wandesford Quay, then left on to Lancaster Quay then normal route thereafter.
Eastbound: Continue straight at Noonan Road, continue striaght on to Green Street, then turn left on to Roselawn, continuing straight onto St Patricks Road, Summerhill South, Anglesea Street, South Terrace, right on to Cotter Street, right on to Copley Street and stopping at Old Station Road-Breast Check Stop Area on Anglesea then normal route

Route 220

Westbound: Via South Terrace, Georges Quay, Sullivans Quay, Probys Quay, Sherman Crawford Street, right on to Wandesford Quay, then left on to Washington Street then normal route thereafter.
Eastbound: via Mardyke, left to Grenville Place, Kyrles Quay, Lavitts Quay, Christy Ring Bridge, Carrols Quay, Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru Street, N27, Old Station Road Anglesea St, stopping at Old Station Road-Breast Check Stop Area, then normal route

Route 223

Northbound - Normal route to South Terrace, then right to Cotter Street, right to Copley Street, Old Station Road, N27, stopping at Old Station Road-Breast Check Stop Area, then normal route
Southbound - Depart Opp Crawford Bar (between Breast Check and Old Station Road Jctn) , then normal route thereafter

Route 225

Outbound:operate via Clontarf St then left onto Albert Quay then right onto N27
Inbound: Via N27 turn right at Jctn, passing Aldi , continue straight on to De Valera and Collins Bridges, left to Penrose Quay, Ship Street

Route 226

Outbound: via N27, Old Station Road and turn left to Breast Check Stop
Inbound: , operate via Cotter Street, Copley Street, Old Station Road, straight on to N27 (passing Aldi) , continue straight on to De Valera and Collins Bridges, left to Penrose Quay, and left to Ship Street

Westbound: Routes 40, 233, 236, 237, 239 will operate via Lwr Oliver Plunkett St, Penrose Quay, Patricks Quay, Camden Quay, Christy Ring, Lavitts Quay, Kyrles Quay . Gratton Street, then normal

Routes coming from the west: 40, 233, 236, 237, 239 will operate via Mardyke, Grenville Place, Kyrles Quay, Lavitts Quay, Christy Ring Bridge, Carrols Quay, Leitrim Street, Coburg Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru Bridge, Lower Oliver Plunkett Street, Parnell Place

Route 51, Inbound services will operate via Leitrim Street, Mc Curtain Street, Brian Boru Street, Lower Oliver Plunkett Street, Parnell Place

Route 51, Outbound services will operate via Lwr Oliver Plunkett Street and North Quays

Cork County services will be diverted as follows due to local St. Patrick’s Day parades:

Ballincollig

Ballincollig St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 and as a result Main Street, Ballincollig will be closed from its junction with Castlepark to its junction with Muskerry Estate, from 13:30 to 18:00 approximately.

As a result services should operate as follows:-

Outbound from Cork: operate as normal to Eastgate. Turn right onto Old Fort Road (behind Barracks) to Muskerry Estate and normal route thereafter.

Inbound to Cork: operate as normal to Muskerry Estate. Turn left onto Old Fort Road (behind barracks), left at Eastgate junction and normal route thereafter.

Bandon

Bandon St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 from 14:00 to 16:00 approximately.

As a result services should operate as follows:-

Outbound services from Cork to West Cork should operate to Kelleher’s (Glasslyn Road). Turn bus at Kellehers and then operate via the by-pass.

Inbound services to Cork should operate via the by-pass to Kelleher’s, Glasslyn Road. Buses should turn at Kelleher’s for Cork.

Please note that An Garda Siochana will offer assistance when buses are turning at Kelleher’s.

Carrigaline

Carrigaline St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 and as a result, the Main Street, Carrigaline will be closed to traffic from 14:00 to 15:30 approx.

As a result, services should operate as follows for the duration of closure:

Route 220 Outbound – Cork/Liosbourne/Crosshaven:

Operate as per normal route to Carrigaline Court Hotel roundabout, turning right onto Ballea Road, left at traffic lights onto Pottery Road and then right onto Lower Kilmoney Road and normal route thereafter.

Route 220 Inbound – Crosshaven/Liosbourne/Cork:

Operate as normal to Lower Kilmoney Road, turning left onto Pottery Road, right onto Ballea Road, turning left at Carrigaline Court Hotel roundabout and normal route thereafter.

Route 225 Cork Airport/Ballygarvan to Ringaskiddy:

Operate as per normal Route from Ballygarvan to Carrigaline Court Hotel roundabout, taking left on to R613, proceeding to main junction. At junction continue ahead to Church Road and normal Route thereafter.

Route 225 Ringaskiddy to Ballygarvan/Cork Airport:

Operate as per normal Route from Ringaskiddy via Church Road, continuing ahead at junction to Roundabout, taking third exit to R611 and normal Route thereafter.

Carrigtwohill

Carrigtwohill St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March2024, from 13:15 to 15:15 approximately.

Outbound services are not affected.

Inbound service 13.35 ex Ballinacurra will be unable to serve Carrigtwohill during this closure.

Cahir

Cahir St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March2024, and as a result the Main Street will be closed from 12:00rs to 14:00 approximately.

During this closure, passengers should board services at disused garage forecourt (Keatings Garage) opposite the Mart on the Cashel Road.

On approach to Cahir from Cork, drivers should travel as normal on the M8 and turn left onto the Cahir Bypass and take the exit for the R670 (Cashel Road), turning left into the Garage Forecourt opposite the Mart, turn and return to the M8 via the Cashel Road. This diversion only affects the 12:00 service from Cork to Dublin.

Clonakilty

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Clonakilty will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 and as a result the Main Street will be closed to traffic from 14:00 to 16:00 approximately.

As a result Route 237 services should operate via the By-Pass for the duration of the closure.

Fermoy

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Fermoy will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 from 11:00 to 13:00 approximately.
From Cork, continue M8 to Junction 14 for Fermoy. Head towards Fermoy, turn left at Inver onto Pike RD L1513 and then right onto Beechfield Rd at Auto Spares. Continue straight, then turn right onto Dublin Rd. and normal route.
From Dublin, continue M8 to Junction 14 for Fermoy. Head towards Fermoy, turn left at Inver onto Pike RD L1513 and then right onto Beechfield Rd at Auto Spares. Continue straight, then turn right onto Dublin Rd. Then carry on to the Moorepark Roundabout and take the Cork exit. Continue on M8 and then take the Rathcormac exit and normal route.
Customers will be facilitated to board and alight services opposite Aldi by Bus Depot for duration of event.

Macroom

Due to St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Macroom on Sunday, 17 March2024, the Main Street will be closed from 15:00 to 17:00 approximately.

The Gardai will try and facilitate services operating through Macroom at 15.15, prior to actual commencement of parade. When the Parade commences Route 40 services should operate as follows:

Route 40 Inbound services:

turn left off New Street before the bridge and operate via Masseytown and Mill Road, proceeding to eastern end of town and re-joining main road at Coachford Junction.

Route 40 Outbound services:

turn right before Macroom Town at Coachford Junction and proceed left via Mill Road to Masseytown, turning right after passing O’Riada’s Bar onto New Street and normal route thereafter.

Passengers wishing to board/alight services in Macroom in either direction should be facilitated on New Street or at Coachford Junction.

Mallow

Mallow St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 from 12:45 to 16:00 approximately.

Customers travelling to Limerick should board bus services prior to the Train Station.

Customers travelling to Cork should be facilitated on Cork Road opposite Roundabout Inn.

Midleton

Midleton St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024 and as a result the Main Street will be closed to traffic from 13:00 to 18:00 approximately.

Route 40; 260; Outbound from Cork:

Services should operate as normal to Lake View Roundabout, take R630 (St. Mary’s road) to junction with Youghal Road; then turning right to operate via Youghal Road to junction with N25 and normal Route thereafter.

Route 261 Outbound from Cork:

Services should operate as normal to Lake View Roundabout then take R630 (St. Mary’s Road) to junction with Youghal Road; then turning right to operate via Youghal Road to junction with N25. Then turn right and return to Lake View Roundabout to serve Ballinacurra.

Route 40; 260 Inbound to Cork:

Operate as normal to junction with Youghal Road, then turn right to operate via Youghal Road to junction with R630 (St. Mary’s Road), turning left to operate via R630 (St. Mary’s Road) to Lake View Roundabout and normal Route thereafter.

Route 261 Inbound to Cork:

Operate as normal to Lake View Roundabout, then via N25 to junction with Youghal Road. Turn left to operate via Youghal Road to junction with R630 (St. Mary’s Road), then turn left to operate via R630 (St. Mary’s Road) to Lake View Roundabout and normal route thereafter

Mitchelstown

Mitchelstown St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024, and as a result the Main Street will be closed from 12:45 to 14:30 approximately.

As a result, Route 245X should operate via Georges St, inbound and outbound. Please note that An Garda Siochana will be on duty and will direct buses on the day.

Please facilitate customers at Oisin House, junction of Robert Street & George’s Street, for travel outbound to Dublin and opposite Oisin House for services inbound to Cork.

Youghal

Youghal St. Patricks Day Parade will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024, and as a result the Main Street will be closed from 14:30 to 16:00 approximately.

Drivers are advised that outbound passengers may board buses at Summerfield Cross, Cork Hill or end of Cork Hill.

Passengers travelling from Youghal to Cork may board buses at Aherne’s end of Cork Hill and at Summerfield Cross.

Gardai have advised that “No Parking Cones” will be placed at the bottom of Cork Hill to assist with bus turning in the area.

Rathkeale

Routes 13 and 14 will be unable to serve Rathkeale between 10.00 and 14.00.

Crosshaven 

Crosshaven St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Monday, 18 March 2024. The parade will start at the Point Road at the boat yard and will continue onto the Pier. Road will be closed from 14:00 to 15:00 hours approximately.

As a result Route 220/220X should operate as follows:

Route 220 outbound to Crosshaven should operate as normal from Carrigaline on R612 to junction at O’Leary’s Cross. At O’Leary’s Cross turn right to travel on R612 towards Myrtleville. Continue ahead via Forge Cross; Myrtleville Cross; Goat’s Cross following R612 until junction with Brightwater. At junction with Brightwater, turn right, continuing ahead via Brightwater to junction with Church Bay Road. At junction with Church Bay Road, turn left and continue ahead towards Crosshaven Village.

For services resuming return journey to Cork City/Ballincollig, at junction with Church Bay Road and Crosshaven Village (Cronin’s Pub) continue on to roundabout, travelling around roundabout and taking exit to return to Church Bay Road, operating diversion in reverse order.

For services operating to Camden, turn right off Church Bay Road to Camden Road and normal route thereafter.

For inbound services from Camden, operate as per normal Route to junction with Camden Road and Crosshaven Village (Cronin’s Pub). Turn left to join Church Bay Road, then operate as per diversion in reverse order.

Route 220X outbound is unaffected and should operate as per normal via Church Bay Road to junction with Crosshaven Village. Then operate as per Route 220 diversion, travelling around Roundabout to take exit to rejoin Church Bay Road to operate inbound.

Customers will be facilitated at end of Church Bay Road (Cronin’s Pub), for duration.
