Diversions in the Western/Northwestern Region due to St. Patrick's Weekend celebrations.

We wish to advise customers of the following diversions to services in the Western/Northwestern region of diversions to services due to St. Patrick's weekend celebrations.

Galway City

The following services will operate with diversions between 10.30 and 13.30 on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March

  • Route 401
    Services from Dr Mannix Rd to Parkmore will operate from Merchants Rd to a temporary city centre terminus on Fairgreen Road. Eyre Square and Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir will not be served during the parade.
  • Route 402
    Services from Shangort Rd to Merlin Park will operate from UHG to a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir. University Rd, Francis St, Eyre Square, Prospect Hill and Bohermore will not be served during the parade.
    Merlin Park to Shangord Rd services will operate from Dublin Rd to a temporary city centre terminus on Fairgreen Rd. Bohermore, Eyre Square, Francis St and University Rd will not be served during the parade.
  • Route 404
    Services from Oranmore to Westside will operate from Dublin Rd to a temporary city centre terminus on Fairgreen Rd. College Rd, Eyre Square, Francis St, University Rd and Lower Newcastle will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Westside to Oranmore will operate from from Upper Newcastle to a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir. Lower Newcastle, University Rd, Francis St and Eyre Square will not be served during the parade.
    Oranmore Westside Service terminates on Station Rd ie through trip to the bus stop at Calasanctius College in Oranmore Village cancelled.
    Westside Oranmore 15:10, 15:40, 16:10 and 16:40 departures will not serve the bus stop at Calasanctius College in Oranmore Village. These services will operate via The Coast Road and Doughiska Rd to Roscam before continuing to Galway Clinic.
  • Route 405
    Services from Gort na Bro to Ballybane Ind Est will operate from from Seamus Quirke Rd to a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir. Lower Newcastle, University Rd, Francis St, Eyre Square, Prospect Hill and Bohermore will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Ballybane Ind Est to Gort na Bro will operate from from a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir. Eyre Square, Francis St, University Rd and Lower Newcastle will not be served during the parade
  • Route 407
    Services from Eyre Square to Bothar an Choiste will operate from a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir to Headford Rd (Opp Dunnes Stores). Eyre Square, Francis St, Woodquay and Galway Retail Pk will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Bothar an Choiste to Eyre Square will operate from from Headford Rd (Dunnes Stores) to a temporary city centre terminus on Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir. Galway Shopping Centre, Woodquay, Francis St and Eyre Square will not be served during the parade.
  • Route 409
    Services from Eyre Square to Parkmore will operate from a temporary city centre terminus on Fairgreen Rd. Eyre Square and Bóthar Bhreandain Uí Eithir will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Parkmore to Eyre Square will operate from Dublin Rd to a temporary city centre terminus on Fairgreen Rd. College Rd, Forsters St and Eyre Square will not be served during the parade.
  • Route 419
    Services from Galway to Clifden / Oughterard will operate from Ceannt Station to Bushy Pk. Francis St, University Rd and Lower/Upper Newcastle will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Clifden / Oughterard to Galway will operate from Bushy Pk to Ceannt Station. Lower Newcastle, University Rd and Francis St will not be served during the parade.
    12:50 ex Galway: Service to depart Galway 20 minutes early at 12:30 and to depart Moycullen 20 minutes early at 12:49, then hold time at Oughterard for the 13:25 departure to Clifden. Parade commences at 13:25.

Limerick City

The following services will operate with diversions between 07:00 and 16:15 on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March and on Sunday, 19 March for the Marching Band

  • Route 301
    Services from Fr Russell Rd to Westbury Inbound will operate to Colbert Station via Hyde Rd. From Colbert Station it will travel to Future Sound and Vision on Upper William St. It will then operate via Pennywell, Lelia St. and Clare St. to Island Rd. At the junction of Island Rd. and Athlunkard St. it will continue on to Westbury as per regular route.
    Services from Westbury to Fr Russell Rd will operate as normal to the junction of Island Rd. and Athlunkard St. Operating via Island Rd., Clare St., Lelia St. and Pennywell it will proceed via Sexton St. to Colbert Station and on to Father Russell Rd. as per regular route.
  • Route 302
    Services from Henry St to Caherdavin will operate from the Strand Hotel and via the side of the Maternity Hospital (Bellefield Gardens) to High Street and the normal route after that.
    Services from Caherdavin to Sarsfield St will operate as normal from Caherdavin to Clancy’s Strand, terminating at Strand Hotel.
  • Route 303
    Services from Kilmallock Rd / O'Malley Pk to Pineview will operate to Future Sound and Vision on Upper William Street. Operating via Pennywell, Lelia St., Clare St. and Island Rd. the service will travel over Thomond Bridge to High St. and on to Moyross and Craeval Pk. as per regular route
    Services from Pineview to Kilmallock Rd / O'Malley Pk will operate from High Street over Thomond Bridge to Island Road. Via Clare St., Lelia St., Pennywell and Parnell St. It will then continue on to O’Malley Pk. from The Post Office on Hyde Rd as per regular route.
  • Route 304
    Services from University of Limerick to Raheen will operate its regular route to Mulgrave St., opposite the Fire Station. It will then operate via Sexton St. to Colbert Station, then travelling via Hyde Rd. to the Crescent Shopping Centre and on to Raheen as per Regular Route.
    Services from Raheen to University of Limerick will operate from Raheen to Colbert Station via Hyde Rd. From Colbert Station it will travel to Future Sound and Vision on Upper William St. It will then operate from Future Sound and Vision on its regular route to the University of Limerick.
  • Route 304A
    Services from University of Limerick to Raheen will operate its regular route to Hyde Rdthen continue via Hyde Rd and Childers Rd to The Crescent Shopping Centre and on to Raheen as per Regular Route.
    Services from Raheen to University of Limerick will operate from Raheen to Colbert Station via Hyde Rd. instead of O’Connell Avenue and Barrington St. The remainder of the 304A route will operate as normal.
  • Route 306
    Services from Henry St to Ballynanty will operate from the Strand Hotel to Shelbourne Rd and onto the terminus by the regular route. The return trip will also operate via the normal route using the temporary loading bay opposite the Strand Hotel as a terminus.
    Services from Ballynanty to Henry St will then operate via Clancy Strand and the Treaty Stone over Thomond Bridge to St Mary’s Park. From St Mary’s Park, the service will operate over Thomond Bridge via the Treaty Stone and Clancy Strand to the Strand Hotel.
  • Route 343
    Services from Limerick to Ennis will operate via Ivan’s Shop, Clonmacken Roundabout and Shannon Tunnel. There will be no pick up/drop off between Ivan’s and Bus Station between 07.00 and 16.00 hrs.
    Services from Ennis to Limerick will operate via Ivan’s Shop, Clonmacken Roundabout and Shannon Tunnel. There will be no pick up/drop off between Ivan’s and Bus Station between 07.00 and 16.00 hrs.

Athlone Town

The following diversions will take place on Sunday, 19 March between 13.15 and 15.45

  • Route A1
    Services from Bealnamulla to Kilmartin Centre will operate from Halls Bridge to Grace Pk Junction. Mitchell's Terrace, Battery Heights, Town Centre, Bus/Rail Station and Golden Island Shopping Centre will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Kilmartin Centre to Bealnamulla will operate from Grace Pk Junction to Evergreen Avenue. Golden Island Shopping Centre, Bus/Rail Station, Town Centre and Battery Heights will not be served during the parade.
  • Route A2
    Services from Bealnamulla to Kilmartin Centre will operate from Halls Bridge to The Regional Sports Centre. Barricks St Church, Town Centre, Bus/Rail Station and Golden Island Shopping Centre will not be served during the parade.
    Services from Kilmartin Centre to Bealnamulla will operate from The Regional Sports Centre to Evergreen Avenue. Golden Island Shopping Centre, Bus/Rail Station, Town Centre and Barricks will not be served during the parade.

Sligo Town

The following services will operate with diversions between 11.00 and 13.00 on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March

  • Route S1
    Services from Cartron to Cairins Rd will divert after serving the bus stop opp. City View from Bridge Street via JFK Parade and Riverside, rejoining the route at Doorly Park. Bus stops at Abbey Street, St. Anne's and Martin Savage Terrace will be outserved during the diversion period.
    Services from Cairins Rd to Cartron will divert after serving Crozon Park via Caltragh Lane, N4 Northbound and Markievicz Road, rejoining the route at Connaughton Road. Bus stops at Caltragh Road, High Street, O'Connell Street and Markievicz Road will be without service during the diversion period.
  • Route S2
    Services from Strandhill to Rosses Point will divert after serving Knappagh Road (Bus Station) stop via N4 Northbound and Markievicz Road, rejoining the route at Connaughton Road. Bus stop at Markievicz Road will be without services during the diversion period.
    Services from Rosses Point to Strandhill will divert after serving bus stop Opp. City View from Lake Isle Road via Stephen Street, Markievicz Road, N4 Southbound and Lord Edward Street, rejoining the route at Knappagh Road. Bus stop at John Street will be outserved during the diversion period with Markievicz Road bus stop being used as an alternative town centre bus stop.

Expressway

The following Expressway Services will be affected by diversions due to St Patrick’s Day parades

Route 13

  • Adare
    In Adare, the 11.35 service from Limerick will be unable to serve Adare and will divert via L1420, L8002 and R519. The 11:00 service from Tralee will be unable to serve Adare and will divert via R519, L8002 and L1420. Passengers are advised to board/alight in Croagh.

Route 14

  • Adare
    In Adare, the 12:35 service from Limerick will be unable to serve Adare and will divert via L1420, L8002 and R519. The 14:00 service from Killarney will be unable to serve Adare and will divert via R519, L8002 and L1420. Passengers are advised to board/alight in Croagh.

Route 30/X30

  • Donegal Town
    The 16:00 service from Donegal Town will operate from a temporary stop at the roundabout near Lidl in Donegal Town. The 11:00 and 12:30 services from Dublin (scheduled to arrive in Donegal Town at 14:35 and 16:30 respectively) will operate to a temporary stop at the roundabout near Lidl.
  • Ballyshannon
    The 14:30 service from Donegal Town (14:50 from Ballyshannon) will board/alight passengers after exiting the roundabout on the R936 on the south side of The River Erne.
    The 11:00 service from (14:20 ex Ballyshannon) will board/alight passengers after exiting the roundabout on the R936 on the south side of The River Erne. This temporary set down is on the side of the roundabout closest to the N15.

Route 51

  • Gort
    The 13:05 service from Galway to Cork will board/alight passengers in Gort on the R458 prior to the roundabout on approach to Gort. The service will then join the M18 motorway at junction 16 and bypass Gort and Crusheen.
    The 12:25 service from Limerick to Galway will bypass Crusheen and Gort, then exit the M18 motorway at junction 16. This service will board alight passengers on the R458 after exiting roundabout on old Galway road.
  • Charleville
    As there are no road closures expected in Charlevilled, services should operate without diversions, but delays are expected

Route 64

  • Donegal Town
    The 13:30 and 15:00 services from Sligo will operate to/from a temporary stop at the roundabout near Lidl.
    All services from Derry will operate as normal.
  • Ballyshannon
    The 13:30 service from Sligo will board/alight passengers after exiting the roundabout on the R936 on the south side of The River Erne. This temporary set down is on the side of the roundabout closest to the N15. The service will be approaching this roundabout coming from Bundoran.
    All services from Derry will operate as normal.
  • Bundoran
    The 12:00 service from Galway will serve the bus stops on Bundoran West but will be unable to serve the bus on Bundoran East.
    All services from Derry will operate as normal.
