From 1 March 2026, a valid, in-date Free Travel Public Services Card (PSC) will be required to avail of free travel on all Bus Éireann operated services, including Expressway.
After a period of 1 month’s grace, from 1 April 2026 onwards, expired Free Travel PSCs and Free Travel Paper Passes will no longer be accepted for travel and customers will be charged the appropriate full fare for the journey undertaken.

To avoid disappointment, Bus Éireann is urging all Free Travel customers to check their Free Travel PSC and ensure it is in-date. If your Free Travel PSC has expired, or if you currently travel using a Paper Pass, you can renew or apply for a new Public Services Card online through MyWelfare or by visiting your local PSC Centre.

Valid Free Travel PSC PSCs will continue to be accepted across all services. Expressway customers are encouraged to pre-book their seats to enjoy priority boarding and a guaranteed seat.
