Customer demand drives expansion of Bus Éireann’s Expressway Eurolines service

  • Extra weekly peak service begins tomorrow, Friday 19 August and tickets are on sale now
  • Fares for coach and ferry routes from Dublin to London and Birmingham from just €39 one way and €70 return

Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company, has announced an additional peak weekly service on its Expressway Eurolines route linking Dublin with London and Birmingham.

Following the relaunch of the twice weekly service on 7 July, strong customer demand has led to an additional return journey departing Dublin to London on a Friday and returning from London to Dublin on a Saturday, which will commence from tomorrow. Customers can enjoy their first bag for free with no hidden charges, extra fast Wi-Fi and comfortable seating on board. For more information, please check out Expressway.ie

Tickets cost from just €39 one-way, or €70 return and are on sale now at Expressway.ie

Expressway Eurolines operates on top-end coaches and crosses the Irish Sea on Irish Ferries' ‘Ulysses’ ship, allowing customers to make the overnight journey in comfort, and arrive Birmingham and London city centres.

The generous baggage allowance of up to 15kg includes bringing the first suitcase onboard for free. This allows customers when moving abroad for college, returning home, or carrying bulky equipment such as sporting equipment, to do so with minimum fuss.

With coach and ferry transportation emitting just a fraction of the amount of carbon dioxide per passenger kilometre than flying, the Expressway Eurolines services means customers can lower their carbon footprint and save money while travelling the UK with school or sports clubs, travelling to or from college, or visiting family or friends.

Eleanor Farrell, Bus Éireann’s Chief Commercial Officer said:
‘We’re pleased that the Expressway Eurolines service has proven so popular since it was reinstated last month, and we are delighted to be expanding the service for passengers who rely solely on Expressway Eurolines for travel between Ireland and the UK’

‘For people who are unable to, or don’t want to fly, whether for environmental, financial, medical or other reasons, these services provide an essential alternative, travelling on our top end new coaches with extra comfortable seating.

‘In response to customer demand, we’re pleased to add an additional weekly service to the schedule starting from Friday, 19 August.

‘As demand for these services is likely to continue to be high, we’d encourage passengers to book their trip early.

‘With fares from just €39 one way or €70 return, passengers can travel direct to the heart of London and Birmingham, without the hassle of getting to the airport or long security queues – while making sustainable travel choices and working together to reduce our carbon footprint and energy consumption.’
