Bus Éireann encouraging people in Mayo to travel to Climb with Charlie by bus

Bus Éireann is encouraging people in Mayo who travel to Climb with Charlie on Saturday, 2 April to leave their cars at home or at their accommodation if staying locally where possible, and take the bus to Croagh Patrick.

Bus Éireann operates the Route 450 service, funded by the NTA, from Westport to Murrisk at the foot of Croagh Patrick, which is a 15-minute trip by bus and tickets do not need to be purchased in advance and can be bought on-board from your driver or with a Leap Card. There are six daily departures from Westport and seven scheduled returns from Murrisk to facilitate climbers throughout the day.

"We can confirm that the Route 450 service will be operating on Saturday, 2 April to take Mayo climbers to and from Croagh Patrick,'' said Brian Connolly, Bus Éireann Senior Operations Manager, West. ''We want to wish all those who are planning to hike, including local Bus Éireann employees the very best of luck and we encourage those looking to travel to plan ahead for how they will get to and from the climb. By taking the bus, passengers can travel hassle free, removing the need to find parking, reducing traffic congestion on our roads, and travelling in a more environmentally friendly method of transport."

The Route 450 bus service will depart from Mill Street in Westport and arrive at Campbell's Bar in Murrisk, the first departure leaves Westport at 7.25am and the last return leaves Murrisk at 19.01pm. Adult single cash fares cost €4.30, a day return ticket is €7.50 and single Leap Card fares are 30% cheaper than cash.
