Cavan travellers are benefitting from six new easily accessible coaches operated by Bus Éireann on behalf of the National Transport Authority. The new LF400 double-deck buses, in the distinctive green and yellow TFI livery are the first of their kind to be equipped with a permanent wheelchair space and priority seating on the lower deck.

"The new vehicles are more spacious than previous double-deck coaches,” said Jim Reilly, Service Supervisor Cavan, for Bus Éireann. “They have a capacity for 76 passengers, with four priority seats on the lower deck, two of which are folding seats that enable a guide dog to sit alongside a visually impaired passenger. All of the new vehicles also have the latest Euro VI emissions certificate which reduces carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to those in 2000, continuing Bus Éireann’s commitment to sustainable solutions in towns and cities across Ireland.”

Other additional new features on the buses include low floor access on the lower deck allowing easier access for passengers with reduced mobility, additional passenger information display within the wheelchair space, individual overhead passenger reading lights and USB sockets as well as complimentary Wi-Fi for passengers.

The new vehicles will operate on the Route 109X, which operates 19 daily services from Cavan to Dublin City Centre/Busáras.
