Visit Bus Éireann’s inaugural exhibition space at the National Ploughing Championships

 Bus Éireann is exhibiting at the National Ploughing Championships for the first time this year and visitors to the event are invited to visit their marquee to meet with ‘Big Red’ and Bus Éireann staff, to enter a competition for up to €2,500 worth of free travel, and to enjoy performances from political satirist Oliver Callan.

Shuttle buses or Park ’n’ Ride

People visiting the event from all over Ireland are also being encouraged to take the stress and hassle out of their journey by using public transport.  Bus Éireann will be providing shuttle buses direct to the site from Tullamore Train Station and, as they will have access to dedicated bus lanes en-route, a swift journey time is guaranteed. The shuttle service is connected with train arrival and departure times and will operate from Tullamore Train Station to the National Ploughing Championships from 7am to 11.30am, with return journeys running from 1.45pm to 6.30pm. 

For those who need to travel by car, Bus Éireann will also be operating a Park and Ride facility from one of the event’s largest car parks, direct to the exhibition site. 

Win one year’s free travel and other prizes

One lucky visitor to the marquee will be in with a chance to win up to €2,500 worth of free travel, and there will also be daily spot prizes of a tablet and ‘Open Road’ Passes for the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East routes. 

Fleet of the Future

Winner of this year’s Passenger Company of the Year, Bus Éireann is the largest provider of regional city, town and rural public transport services, with 650 vehicles in operation on 330 routes throughout the country. As the operator of School Transport for the Department of Education and Skills, is it also responsible for 41 million student passenger journeys annually. Visitors to the Bus Éireann site at the Ploughing can take a tour of its new ‘Fleet of the Future’ - with an Expressway coach, Bus Éireann commuter bus and School Bus all on site and open to explore and enjoy.

  • 11am Tuesday 20 – Official opening by Martin Nolan, Bus Éireann’s Chief Executive followed by music by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
  • 11am and 1pm Wednesday 21 - Performances by Oliver Callan, Callan Kicks.
