Bus Éireann introduces enhancements to Expressway Routes 13 and 14

On and from Sunday, 3 March 2013, Bus Éireann will introduce a number of changes to Expressway Route 13 Limerick-Newcastlewest-Abbeyfeale-Tralee and Expressway Route 14 Limerick-Newcastlewest-Killarney. The revised schedule includes the following changes:

 

Expressway Route 13

The new timetable for the Route 13 will provide customers with benefits such as:

  • New extended service to the University of Limerick, with early morning and evening daily services for commuting students
  • All services serve Crescent Shopping Centre
  • All services serve the Regional Hospital
  • Serves towns such as Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, Rathkeale and Adare

There are seven daily services each way from Limerick. Additional services will be added in July and August between Killarney and Limerick.

Customers travelling on the Expressway Route 13 should note the service departs Tralee to Limerick at 06:15 (Mon-Sat); 08.00 (Mon-Sat); 09.00; 11.00; 13.00; 15.00; 18.00 and 19.00 (Sunday only).

Customers travelling from Limerick to Tralee on the Route 13 should note it departs at 08.35; 10.35; 11.35; 13.35; 15.35; 17.35 (Ex UL Mon-Fri); 19.35 and 21.35.

 

Expressway Route 14

The new timetable for the Route 14 will provide customers with benefits such as:

  • All services serve the Crescent Shopping Centre
  • All services serve the Regional Hospital
  • Additional Sunday and Summer services
  • Extended services to and from the University of Limerick
  • Serves towns such as Newcastle West, Rathkeale, Adare and Patrickswell.

Customers travelling from Killarney to Limerick can depart every two hours from 10.00 to 18.00.  Customers travelling from Limerick to Killarney on the Route 14 should note it departs at 08.35 (via Tralee), 10.35; 12.35; 14.35; 16.35:17.35, 18.35 (Fri only) and 19.35 (via Tralee).

Customers should note that they need to change bus in Abbeyfeale when travelling to Killarney, Castleisland, Farranfore and Kerry Airport on the 10.35 & 17.35 services from Limerick.

Customers using the Expressway Route 14 services should also be aware that there will be an increase in services between Killarney and Limerick during the summer months.

Morning commuters, workers and students travelling to the University of Limerick can take the early morning service at 06:15 and 08.00 ex Tralee, picking up at Newcastle, Rathkeale and Adare. Customers returning from University of Limerick in the afternoon should be aware it departs at 16.05 and 17.05 Monday to Friday.

On Friday and Sunday evenings during college hours there will be additional services connecting the University of Limerick to the Route 13 and 14 services.   

For customers travelling on our city and commuter services Bus Éireann has a range of great value ticket options available. The Adult City fare is €1.80 and a Child City Fare (under 16) is €1.10. Weekly and monthly commuter tickets start from just €19.00 & €61.50.

Weekly and Commuter Tickets can be bought for City travel, for Adults, Students and Children (under 16), at the Travel Centre, Bus Station, Limerick.

Commuters should also be aware that they can save up to 52 per cent on the cost of point to point annual/yearly and monthly Bus Éireann tickets with the Taxsaver Commuter Ticket. Details are available at www.taxsaver.ie.
