Becoming a School Transport Provider

Bus Éireann are continuously seeking additional vehicles with available drivers for the provision of services under the Primary, Post Primary and Special Needs National School Transport Scheme. Additional resources are being sought in all areas of the country.

Interested contractors are invited to express an interest in providing services. In order to do this, they must first qualify for a procurement panel before being invited to tender.

If you wish to submit an application to join the panel which expires in 2027, it is advisable to register on the Governments electronic tendering platform to or you can email Beschooltenders@buseireann.ie seeking a link to register on the Bus Éireann School Transport Procurement platform or if you have any queries.

Interested operators should note:

  • Operators already on the School Transport Services Qualification Panel 2022 to 2027 do not need to re-apply in order to be considered, unless the operator wishes to be considered for a County (or Counties) or vehicle category (or categories) in addition to those for which the operator has already qualified. (If a new application is submitted it will overwrite your existing application).
  • Garda vetting is mandatory for all personnel performing transport services under school transport contracts with Bus Éireann.
  • All vehicles must be fitted with seat belts, be less than 20 years old and must meet all statutory requirements.
