Seat Reservation

Expressway is trialing its Seat Reservation system on the following routes.

  • Route X1 Dublin to Belfast Selected Expressway services, all stops included
  • Route 30 Dublin to Donegal Also including Dublin Airport, Virginia, Cavan, Belturbet and Ballyshannon
  • Route 32 Dublin to Letterkenny Also including Dublin Airport, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Monaghan, Strabane and Lifford

The new system will deliver three service benefits:

  1. Reserve A Seat:  Passengers can reserve a seat on a specific bus at a specific time, for added peace of mind.
  2. Priority Boarding:  Arrive 15 minutes before departure and be guaranteed to get onboard before the crowds to choose your seat on the bus.
  3. Manage Your Booking:  Online passengers can now change their booking online up to one hour before departure time.

How do I pay for my online reservations?

  • Visa

How do I view my recent transactions?

Simply click here and insert your Ticket Order ID, Departure Date and Email Address.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Reservations can be made a minimum of 30 days in advance of the date of intended travel (This is subject to change without notice).

I have made a mistake with my online booking, what can I do?

If you made a mistake with your booking you can click the “manage your booking” button on the home page on the desktop website or in the drop down menu on the mobile website. 

Simply click here and insert your Ticket Order ID, Departure Date and Email Address. 

Click Search Bookings and select a new date to travel.

Is there a fee for amending a booking?

Amending a booking is subject to a €2 administrative fee. Note this is per booking ID and not per passenger.

What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation email after my booking?

Once your transaction has been processed successfully, you should receive email confirmation of your online order immediately. If it has not been delivered to your "inbox", you should check to see if you or your service provider have filtered it to your "junk" folder.

If it does not appear in either your "inbox" or your "junk" folder, please do not hesitate to contact our Online Support Team

This situation can be avoided by adding the Online Support Team email address to your "Contacts".

What type of tickets can I reserve?

Adult, Student and Child Singles tickets can be reserved. If you select a return journey, the transaction will of course be processed. You will choose an outbound service followed by a return service (effectively two single tickets).

Reserved Seat(s) - Terms and Conditions

A reserved seat is for a chosen specific departure time, if one wishes to travel at an alternative departure date or time a booking must be amended via “Manage your booking” here 

Reserved seats are non-refundable however a booking can be amended up to one hour before the selected service is scheduled to depart from its journey origin.

Amending a booking is subject to a €2 administrative fee. Note this is per booking ID and not per passenger.

To ensure a reserved seat on a service passengers are advised to arrive for boarding 10 minutes before scheduled departure time and avail of priority boarding.

An e-ticket must be printed or displayed on a mobile device and present to the bus driver to be validated for travel. An e-ticket must be presented otherwise a ticket cannot be issued. NB: MAC numbers should be kept confidential.

When making an amendment, if the desired service departure is more expensive than the original, the difference in fare shall be charged as well as the amendment fee.

During the trial period all seats on a scheduled service may not be offered online. Any remaining seats will be available to purchase on a first come first serve basis from the driver, ticket vendor machine or ticket office.
