3D Secure FAQ
|3D Secure is a secure online payment system developed by Visa or MasterCard to protect your credit card against unauthorised use online. 3D Secure works by using a password that you create as your unique online identifier. You then use your 3D Secure Password to validate online transactions with participating online retailers.
3D Secure is only available for Visa and MasterCard accounts.

|After you enter your payment card details, you will be redirected to your card issuer bank’s 3D Secure registration page. After this registration, you should be able to complete your purchase.
Generally, there are two steps involved in registration: entering your card and personal details, and creating your password.
After your successful registration, you will be redirected to the Thank You page on buseireann.ie confirming your purchase completion.
For future purchases, you then can use your 3D Secure Password to validate online transactions on buseireann.ie.
Please note this registration page is owned by the card issuer bank, Buseireann.ie has no control over it.
Please never disclose this password to anyone and do not write your password down anywhere.
On the payment details page, enter your credit or debit card details as normal, and click “Confirm”.
You will then be redirected to the “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard SecureCode” screen owned by the card issuer, asking for your 3D Secure passcode.
After submission, upon successful authentication, you will be redirected to the Thank You page on buseireann.ie confirming your purchase completion.
|At the 3D Secure screen, click "Forgot your password" or "Retrieve Password", and follow the instructions provided to set up a new password. You can also contact the issuer bank to help with your password. The 3D Secure password is saved only on your card issuer’s computer system, and is not retained by Bus Éireann, so we cannot help you retrieve forgotten 3D Secure passwords.|
